One killed, two injured in Beckley house fire

BECKLEY, W.Va. — State and local officials are investigating the cause of a weekend house fire that claimed the life of one person, and left two others injured.

Firefighters were called to a residence near the intersection of Smoot Ave. and South Fayette St. at approximately 9 pm Saturday.  Two adult men were able to escape from the home, with the assistance of police and fire personnel.  The extent of their injuries was not disclosed.  The body of a third man was taken to the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office.  The identities of the victims have not been disclosed.

The Beckley Fire Department is assisting the West Virginia Fire Marshall’s office with the investigation.
