FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — Fayette County EMS has activated its new countywide Swift911 mass-notification alert system.

County residents and municipalities will be able to receive emergency alerts by phone, text, social media, email or fax.  The system also will alert residents about boil water advisories and other notifications issued by the county.  Additionally, the app has a “reverse-911” feature, in which EMS will be able to send targeted alerts to specific areas during road closures, weather-related incidents, or natural disasters.

Landline phone numbers have been added automatically to the system.  Residents can enroll their mobile devices by texting “swift911” to 99538.  The service is free.
