The Summers County 911 Center is advising motorists of a planned overnight closure of Interstate 64 in both directions between the Sandstone and Bragg exits on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

According to officials, westbound lanes of I-64 will close at 6 p.m. Sunday between the Sandstone Exit (Exit 139) and the Bragg Exit (Exit 133). Eastbound lanes will follow at 10 p.m., closing between the same exits.

The interstate will remain fully closed in both directions until 6 a.m. Monday, November 3.

The West Virginia Division of Highways (DOH) has established a detour route directing traffic between the Shady Spring/Beaver Exit and the Sandstone Exit via Route 19, Route 3, and Route 20.

Drivers should expect increased passenger and commercial vehicle traffic through Summers County—particularly along Route 3 from Shady Spring to Hinton and Route 20 from Hinton to Sandstone—during the closure period.

Motorists with questions or concerns about the closure are encouraged to contact the DOH District 9 office in Lewisburg at 304-647-7450.

The Summers County 911 Center says it will coordinate with local emergency agencies to ensure readiness and support throughout the closure.
