CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Governor Patrick Morrisey has appointed Donnie Lee Adkins II, a Raleigh County attorney, to the West Virginia Parole Board, citing his extensive background in criminal defense and public service.

Adkins, a Beckley native and owner of The Aspen Law Office in Raleigh County, brings years of legal experience to the position.

A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Adkins earned his bachelor’s degree in history and political science from West Virginia University in 1999, followed by a master’s degree in political science and a Juris Doctor from WVU in 2004. He later completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Law and Government at American University in Washington, D.C., in 2006.

Throughout his career, Adkins has served in various legal capacities at both the state and federal levels, including as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Kanawha County from 2013 to 2014.

Governor Morrisey praised the appointment, saying each new board member brings “a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to serving the people of West Virginia.”
