The bridge, which carries Route 29 over Piney Creek, stretches nearly 2,000 feet and handles around 10,000 vehicles a day.
Catts Construction was awarded the contract for the project, which includes a new concrete deck overlay, new expansion joints, repairs to the north abutment, and a fresh coat of paint.
Highway officials say the bridge is a key part of the state’s transportation network and that regular maintenance helps prevent the need for costly replacement later on.
