RALEIGH COUNTY– A Raleigh County deputy is being commended for his quick actions after rescuing a 91-year-old woman who fell into a thorn bush in her backyard.
According to Sheriff Frank Priddy, the county’s Emergency Operations Center received a call from the woman, who reported that she was trapped and at risk of further injury.
Emergency medical services were dispatched but were still some distance away when Corporal R. McDaniel — who was nearby at the time — arrived on scene.
McDaniel safely freed the woman from the thorn bush and assisted her to EMS personnel once they arrived.
Sheriff Priddy and Chief Deputy Frankie Shelton praised Cpl. McDaniel for his prompt and selfless response during the incident.
