A Lewisburg woman is facing charges after police say she abandoned her 14-year-old daughter at Walmart and was later found with items tied to drug distribution.
According to a criminal complaint, officers were called around 2 a.m. on September 26 after reports that the girl had been left alone. She told deputies her mother, 38-year-old Lola May Curfman, had left her at the store for an extended period.
Police later found Curfman at the Relax Inn with a man identified as Dustin Shorter, who fled on foot when officers arrived. A K9 search failed to locate him.
Deputies say a search of Curfman’s vehicle uncovered a backpack containing drug paraphernalia, small baggies, digital scales, cell phones, and hypodermic needles.
