FAYETTEVILLE— West Virginia American Water announced plans to invest $520,000 in infrastructure improvements in Fayetteville, according to a press release issued January 16, 2026.
The funding will support a water system upgrade project on East Maple Avenue. According to the release, the work will take place between Sarah Street and Huse Street and will involve replacing approximately 1,100 feet of aging water line with a new 6-inch PVC main.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2026, with final street restoration expected to take place in the spring of 2026.
Crews will work Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place throughout the duration of the project.
West Virginia American Water said the Fayetteville project is part of the company’s broader plan to invest more than $129 million in infrastructure upgrades statewide in 2026 to support the economic health of communities across its service area.
According to the company, more than $805 million has been invested in infrastructure projects and capital upgrades across West Virginia over the past decade, including the installation of more than 168 miles of new water main.
