Robert Dean Shaffer II, 55, a registered sex offender, was arrested Tuesday, January 13, 2026, on charges related to possession of child pornography following an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation.
According to investigators, Shaffer was found to have solicited, acquired, distributed, and possessed large amounts of child sexual abuse material over an extended period of time.
Shaffer was arraigned before a Greenbrier County magistrate and remanded to Southern Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond. Authorities said additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
The case involved multiple agencies, including the West Virginia State Police ICAC Task Force, the Southern Virginia ICAC Task Force, the Pennsylvania State Police, and local law enforcement agencies.
