Funding for a public safety project in Fayette County is included in a federal minibus spending package passed Thursday by the U.S. House of Representatives.

According to Congresswoman Carol Miller, the legislation secures a total of $11.8 million for projects across West Virginia’s First Congressional District.

As part of the package, $340,000 is designated for fleet upgrades for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department under the Commerce, Justice, and Science portion of the bill.

The broader funding measure includes appropriations for Commerce, Justice, Science, Energy and Water Development, and Interior and Environment programs.

Miller said the legislation supports targeted investments in public safety, infrastructure, and water projects throughout the district.

“I am thrilled that yesterday’s minibus secured funding for nine of my Community Project Funding requests, bringing meaningful results to West Virginia by investing in public safety, modern infrastructure, and water projects that directly benefit local communities,” Miller said.

She added that prioritizing responsible spending and targeted investments helps ensure West Virginia families, businesses, and first responders have the resources they need now and in the future.

The Fayette County funding is intended to modernize law enforcement vehicles and improve operational reliability for deputies serving the county.
