WYOMING COUNTY, W.Va. — A domestic disturbance late Thursday night led to the arrest of a Wyoming County man after state police say he assaulted two people inside a residence and admitted to possessing methamphetamine.
According to West Virginia State Police, a trooper was dispatched by Wyoming County 911 at approximately 10 p.m. on December 18, 2025, to a residence in the Brewton area following reports of a domestic incident.
Upon arrival, the trooper spoke with one of the victims, who said Austin Blackburn had been experiencing a mental health episode for several days. Authorities say the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department had responded to the residence earlier that day due to Blackburn’s behavior.
The victim told police that after deputies left, Blackburn returned to the home and went to sleep. When he later woke up, he allegedly began speaking incoherently, claimed to see things that were not there and smeared toothpaste on the bathroom walls.
Police say both victims attempted to calm Blackburn and encourage him to return to bed. During the encounter, Blackburn allegedly pushed both individuals to the ground.
The responding trooper made contact with Blackburn and reported that he was speaking incoherently. When asked if he had any drugs or weapons, Blackburn allegedly admitted to possessing methamphetamine in his wallet and front pants pocket. A search reportedly uncovered two pieces of aluminum foil containing the substance.
Blackburn was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the West Virginia State Police Jesse Detachment.
Troopers advised the victims of their right to seek a Domestic Violence Protective Order. Child Protective Services was also notified after police confirmed a juvenile was present in the home at the time of the incident.
All events occurred in Wyoming County, West Virginia.
