Quick Response Leads to On-Scene Arrest

A Raleigh County deputy made an on-scene arrest after responding to a reported larceny at a cellular telecommunications tower in the Harper Heights area on November 26.

Deputy Finds Evidence — and a Suspect

Deputy S. Dobson arrived at the site and, during the investigation, located evidence and identified a man still in the area.
The suspect, Russell R. Hoffmeyer, was arrested on the spot.

Multiple Charges Filed

Hoffmeyer faces a long list of charges, including:

  • Obstruction

  • Fleeing on foot

  • Entry of a building other than a dwelling

  • Grand larceny

  • Damage to public utility property

  • Critical Infrastructure Protection Act violations

  • Illegal burning of solid waste

Sheriff’s Office Praises Deputy’s Work

Sheriff Frank Priddy and Chief Deputy Frankie Shelton commended Deputy Dobson for his quick response and thorough investigation, saying it directly led to the arrest.
