OAK HILL — A Scarbro man is facing multiple charges after police say he attempted to steal items from a vehicle in the Sunnyside Drive area of Oak Hill on Sunday, November 9.
According to the Oak Hill Police Department, officers responded to the neighborhood after residents shared security footage showing a man trying to enter a vehicle while carrying two tool bags.
Police later found 35-year-old Jonathan Blair along the White Oak Rail Trail, where he was reportedly seen stashing bags that matched those in the video into a bush. When officers approached him, Blair attempted to flee — first on a bicycle, then on foot — but was quickly apprehended.
Authorities recovered more than $1,000 worth of stolen items, including:
Dewalt screwdrivers
Battery chargers
Wire cutters
A Kobalt cordless drill
A Dewalt saw
Various hand tools
Plastic cutlery and party napkins
Coloring paper
Multiple pairs of sunglasses
A pocket knife
A Mongoose Brawler bicycle
Blair was charged with grand larceny and fleeing from an officer. He was transported to Southern Regional Jail, where he remains in custody.
