A Herndon man has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of multiple drug-related offenses in Wyoming County.
Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney Derek Laxton announced that 46-year-old Chad Franklin Simmons was sentenced to three to 30 years in prison following convictions for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine.
The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department. According to Laxton, Cpl. Tucker Cook, Sgt. Logan Cook, and Deputy Matthew Perry found Simmons in possession of a large amount of controlled substances — including fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.
Deputies also reported seizing more than $18,000 in cash and a 9mm pistol during the investigation.
At the time of his arrest, Simmons was already wanted on a capias warrant from Raleigh County related to an earlier case in which he pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Deliver Fentanyl. He had previously received a three- to fifteen-year prison sentence in that case.
Laxton praised the work of law enforcement, saying the case reflects the “skill, hard work, and dedication” of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office in fighting the local drug trade.
Simmons was remanded to the West Virginia Division of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.
