PRINCETON, W.Va.A Mercer County man accused of soliciting a 12-year-old boy for sexual favors in exchange for money was found guilty on all counts Tuesday.

The jury deliberated for less than 40 minutes before returning its verdict.  Brad Allen Stevens, 52, of Princeton was arrested, following a reported incident at his home in 2018.  He was charged with sexual abuse by a custodian or person in a position of trust with a child, attempt to commit a felony, third-degree sexual abuse, use of obscene matter with intent to seduce a minor; and display of obscene matter to a minor.

If the sentences run consecutively, Stevens will face a maximum of 33 years in prison, and will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

Steven’s intended victim, now 13-years-old, testified that Stevens showed him pornographic videos and attempted to induce him to engage in a sexual act in exchange for $50, while the two were at Stevens’s house.  He also testified that Stevens was lying naked on a bed, while the offer was being made.  The teen then exited the house, walked to to a bank parking lot, and borrowed a cell phone to call his parents, who contacted police.

Stevens later admitted to showing a pornographic video to the boy.

Following his conviction, Stevens was remanded to Southern Regional Jail.  His sentencing hearing will take place in May.
